Their story
John II Casimir Vasa, born in Kraków on March 22, 1609, was a member of the influential House of Vasa. His life was marked by significant upheaval and responsibility. Initially a cardinal, he later ascended to the Polish throne, reigning as King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. His rule was largely defined by turbulent conflicts, including the Swedish Deluge which devastated the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Despite these challenges, he strove to protect his realm, eventually abdicating and retiring to France. John Casimir died in Nevers on December 16, 1672, leaving a complex legacy in East European history.
