Christina of Sweden, born in Stockholm on December 7, 1626, was a significant figure of the 17th century. As a member of the House of Vasa, she ascended to the Swedish throne, ruling as regent for a period. Her reign was marked by a keen interest in culture and learning, transforming her court into a vibrant center for intellectuals and artists. In 1654, she made the decision to abdicate her throne, a remarkable act for a monarch of her time. She spent her later years in Rome, where she continued to pursue scholarly and artistic endeavors until her death on April 19, 1689.
