Their story
Princess Anna of Sweden, born of the House of Vasa in Eskilstuna on May 27, 1568, was a figure of quiet influence in a tumultuous era. Daughter to King John III and Catherine Jagiellon, she was a skilled herbalist and chemist, maintaining a laboratory of some renown. Though she maintained strong ties to her native Sweden, she spent much of her life in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, where her brother Sigismund III served as King. A woman of considerable education and intellect for her time, she was entrusted with regencies, demonstrating her administrative capabilities. Princess Anna passed away in Brodnica on February 6, 1625, leaving a legacy of erudition and quiet determination.
